Sewing Basics 2025

Simple Sewing 101

If you've never used a sewing machine or are getting back into sewing after a long break, this workshop is perfect! In this session, you will learn the basics, including how to maintain your machine, identify essential sewing tools, wind your bobbin, thread your machine, understand the straight stitch, and make your first seam. Additionally, there will be a one-hour lecture covering the top three sewing rules, different types of needles, fabrics, interfacing, computerized versus mechanical machines, how not to break the bank, and more!

In-class sewing projects: travel bag

Pattern to Garment

Recommended fabric that won't break your budget for the class: Get two 8-yard bolts in two different colors from online Walmart. Link down below. They also have patterned fabric—one color or pattern as the main fabric and one as the lining. You can also buy fabric from me for the same price; however, my bolt fabric is limited. The class will need around 12 yards of 44" wide fabric.
